SAONA ISLAND
Originally its name is “ADAMANAY”, is a native primitive name.
It is presumed that in the second trip of Don Cristóbal Columbus to
Isla Hispaniola, venia accompanied by an Italian of origin Sabone, an Italian
region. This Italian was the one who discovered the Island, and Don Cristóbal
Columbus wanted to baptize the Island in honor to this Italian with the name
of: “Isla Sabona”. During the years the settlers of the Island
were the name difficult to pronounce, reason why they changed the name to
him by: “Isla Saona”.
Saona, also has interesting caves, like the one of Cotubanamá named
in memory of the proud indigenous head of this same region that captured by
the Spanish conquerors and executed in Santo Domingo. One of the few areas
populated with this national park, the Saona island has a colorful village
called Mano Juan. This town of fishermen with its wood houses in colors pie
is also a center of artisan art.

In
this excursion it is special because we go away to completes beach of the

From we left there for the natural swimming pool where we will be able to

take photos with the starfishes, soon to return all the coast of the national
park of the east towards the port of Bayahibe.

The
classic version with a rich buffet in the beach. With an exit with speed-boat
and later 3 hours we returned with a catamaran. We will stop to the natural
swimming pool in the middle of the sea to observe the starfishes.

In
this excursion we will know the two islands.
First starting off of the port of Bayahibe, we go away all the coast of the
national park of the east in speedboat. Soon we went towards Catalinita island,
that is a small full unhabitant island of snails, between the Atlantic Ocean
and the Caribbean Sea, where you would veran the tropical but pretty landscapes
of the zone. But before arriving at the island we will make a shutdown in
which we called the beach hides (it is a white sand key that when low the
tide in the open leaves a small sand island in the middle of the sea) idel
to take photos. Soon we arrived at catalinita island where we can be awhile,
walk and know a little the island.
From we left there for Saona island where we will enjoy white sand beaches
under the shade of coconut palms. We will very have a buffet varied and a
bar opened with rum, beer, coca cola, water, ect. Fast animation and classes
of merengue.
After passing it in Saona well, we returned, not without making a shutdown
in the famous natural swimming pool (a meter of waters is an area in the middle
of the sea of very little depth approximately crystalline and the sand bottom)
there we will swim awhile and we will take photos with the starfishes that
are in the area.
Soon we left from return for the port of Bayahibe where we will make a shutdown
